Primarily grown in the Indian states of Andra Pradesh and Karnataka, Sona Masuri is a medium-grain white rice. This rice combines two rice varieties: Sona and Masuri, creating an aromatic alternative to Basmati. It’s also lightweight and low in starch making it perfect for use in Indian and Chinese dishes. TRS Sona Masuri can be used in sweet and savoury dishes alike, but is particularly popular in biryani, sweet pongal, fried rice and idli. Since Sona Masuri contains less starch than Basmati rice, it promotes easy digestion and is considered in Southern India to be a healthier choice.
